Author: The author META tag defines the name of the author of the document being read.
Description: Search engines that support META tags usually display the Description META
tag along with your TITLE in their results. Search engines will often capture
the entire description META tag, but keep in mind that when a search engines
display the results to a user, there is limited space, usually under 20 words
you can use to grab the users attention.
Keywords: Search engines that support META tags will often use the keywords found on
your pages as a means to categorize your website based on the search engines
indexing into their data bases..Make sure you choose keywords that are relevant
to your site and avoid excessive repetition because many search engines will
penalize your rankings for attempting to abuse their system. Similar to the
Description META Tag, search engines give priority to the first few words.
Expires: The expires META tag defines the expiration date and time of the document beingindexed and requires RFC1123 date format, for example:
Thu, 04 Oct 2010 14:21:20 GMT
Abstract: The Abstract META tag is very similar to the description Meta tag, except a
brief summary of the description META tag. Usually the Abstract META tag is a
one line sentence which gives an overview of the webpage. Search engines do not
as often use this tag, but it is a useful to search engines that read the first
few lines of text in your webpages.
Copyright: no need to add ©, it will be added automatically.
Designer = Webmaster
Publisher: Company that publishes material being read or sold on a web site.
Revisit The Revisit META tag defines how often a search engine or spider should
come to your website for re-indexing. For example: 2 Days, 3 Days, 4 Days, etc.
Note: Just ad number(s), word Days will be added automatically.
The Revisit-After META tag tells the "Robot" indexing your site to return
after a predetermined amount of days to re-index your web site. This helps to
keep your search engine listings up to date. IMPORTANT: You may be
penalized by search engines if your "revisit-after" days are less then 30.
Distribution: Global (indicates that your webpage is intended for
mass distribution to everyone), Local (intended for local distribution
of your document), and IU - Internal Use (not intended for
public distribution).
Robots: (INDEX) The Robot META tag allows you to control what the "Robot" will and will not
index. "Index, Follow" allows the the web page and it's linked web pages to be
indexed. "No Index, Follow" only allows linked pages to be indexed, ignoring the
current web page and "Index, No Follow" allows only the current web page to by
indexed.
